Last week
brought news of an expansive voluntary food recall linked to a food
ingredient known as hydrolyzed vegetable protein. The recall was apparently
spurred by a downstream customer who reported an adulterated food article
on the Reportable Food Registry.
This case
highlights the importance of knowing when and under what conditions food
manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers must report potentially
