In Bendan's own words:
I spent 2 years working full time in a kitchen throughout the COVID era. I ended up helping them start a frozen pizza department during this time where I got to learn valuable information about starting up a business. The trial and error involved piqued my interest in the industry.
My first job in foodservice was bussing and dropping off chips/salsa at a local Mexican restaurant in Fishers, Indiana. I proceeded to expo at a classic American restaurant and then delivered pizza before going off to college. As mentioned above, I worked in a kitchen for 2 years where I opened/closed the restaurant, prepped food, placed food and inventory orders, trained staff and assisted in starting a new department. After stepping away for a few months to work insurance, I spent a year and half as a server before my most recent internship.
The scholarship will greatly ease the financial pressure I face for my last two years of school. By spending less time working during the school year, I can concentrate on exceling in class while maximizing what I can contribute to the clubs I have taken leadership positions in.
